5 Podcast Interviews That Influenced My Business This Year

You guys know me – I’m a podcast junkie, always listening to inspiring shows that are relevant to business and life.

But I have to say that the podcast episodes that made a true impression on me this year did more than inspire me. They were actionable too. I think you’ll find value in them as well so today I’m sharing my list of the top 5 podcast episodes that influenced my business this year.

Here they are:

How to Do Business Differently on the Creative Empire Podcast
I’ve always admired creatives who question the status quo and dare to build their business differently than their peers. In this episode, hosts Reina Pomeroy and Christina Scalera talk about how to break the mold in your business or industry and give plenty of examples of "disruptors" in the creative space to draw inspiration from.
This one’s for you if…you don’t want to build your business the "standard way" and are seeking permission to do it your way.

Finish: Give Yourself The Gift of Done on the Feel Good Effect Podcast
Plenty of challenges stand between you and your goals but the ones host Robyn Conley Downs and author Jon Acuff talk about on this enlightening episode go beyond what you’d expect. (Perfectionism anyone?) One of my favorite takeaways was that cutting your goals in half can help you succeed in the long run. Who knew?
This one’s for you if…you’re really good at starting projects but rarely finish them – and you want that to change in 2018.

What’s Wrong with Small Business Education on Help Yourself
In this boldly titled episode, host Tara Gentile and guest Brigitte Lyons talk about the state of small business education. They chat openly about where online courses can help you in growing your business and where they sometimes fall short (i.e. managing expectations and getting you results).
This one’s for you if…you’re thinking about investing in a course come 2018 and want to weigh the pros and cons of getting support through a course vs. working 1:1 with someone.

How to Design Your Ideal Week on Online Marketing Made Easy
I always appreciate how host Amy Porterfield keeps things simple and strategic on her podcast. In this episode, she brings on guest Michael Hyatt to teach listeners how to create an ideal week that will keep you productive and set you up for success.
This one’s for you if…you don’t think the productivity "tools" you’re using are doing you any good and believe there’s a simpler way to make the most of your time.

The Price of Our Dreams on Dear Sugar
It’s no secret that I’m a big Cheryl Strayed fan and listen to the podcast she co-hosts religiously. This episode focused on the financial fears around creative entrepreneurship and included a frank conversation with author George Saunders about how to chase creative dreams that come with potential financial risks.
This one’s for you if…you want to go after your big dreams and need to hear some wise words from someone who’s navigated the financial risks of doing so in their own life.

Now I’d love to hear from you. What podcasts stuck with you this year? Comment below and share what you’re listening too – either the podcast or your favorite episode – so I can add it to my playlist as we wrap up 2017.

With love,

Ashley

P.S. If you want to check out one more podcast this year, I have to plug the interview I did with Michael Knouse of The Startup Sessions. I had a blast recording this in-depth conversation for you and have been hearing from a lot of you that it’s sparked some "aha moments." If you haven’t listened to it yet, you can check it out by clicking here.
