how to stop feeling like you have to do it all

When you’re the only person in your business, it’s easy to take on too many responsibilities. The simple solution is to start delegating tasks so you’re not doing everything on your own. But while this may be a simple solution, it isn't always easy.

For starters, there’s a lot of practical work that comes into play.

You have to figure out what to delegate.

You have to identify who you should delegate to.

You have to determine where you can find good people to work with.

You have to get clear on the investment you want to make.

And then there's the fact that you need more than a practical plan if you want to successfully learn to delegate in your business. Because you can make plans forever but if you still believe that you have to "do it all", it will be incredibly hard for you to implement them.

That’s why delegating is not just about making plans. It’s also about getting into a mindset that will allow you to take action on them.

To do that, you have to move away from your old mindset, the one in which you cast yourself as a solopreneur who wears all the hats. 

You need to let go of the idea that you have to do it all.

You need to acknowledge that you and your business will be better off if you take things off your plate. You need to believe that you’re a pro at passing things off to other people. You need to start viewing yourself as someone who delegates.

I’m not going to lie: it won’t feel easy at first but these small shifts will make a big difference. Because when you’re moving between mindsets, the best thing you can do is create awareness. 

Now that you know you need to change your mindset around delegating, you’ll catch yourself in the moments when you’re still trying to do it all. You’ll notice when you’re trying to get through an impossibly long to do list on your own. You’ll notice when you’re wasting hours on tasks or projects that aren’t really in line with your skillset. You’ll notice when you’re stuck in overwhelm and holding yourself back in your business because you refuse to pass things off.

In those moments, you’ll learn to pause and ask yourself if I were someone who delegates, what would I do

Then you’ll make a plan and, because you’re embracing the delegating mindset, you’ll be able to take action on it too.
